Summer Excitement, Part 1

(Since there's been some inquiry about the lack of postings, we're trying to squeeze anything in when we can....)

At this stage in my life, I prefer a low profile. In terms of the blog, I've been content to simply proof Tara's work, suggest some ideas and provide technical support. However, with the summer coming to a close and a new school year beginning, I decided to come out of my shell and at least highlight some events that occurred since the last post.

Family Vacation #1 (Louisville, KY)

The first family vacation lasted two nights and two days. This was officially the first family camping trip. (We had a one night test in the side yard a couple of weeks prior.) Tara was excited and recalled childhood memories. Sofia was also excited, but primarily for the opportunity to be sleeping in the same space with all of us. Jacob was ready to put his Boy Scout knowledge and skills to the test. I chose to be supportive. Chelsea was working out a plan of escape.

On the way to the camp site, we finally got to visit a Sonic drive in. Rarely do TV ads affect me, but we were all pumped to get to one since there wasn't one within 50 miles of our residence. Unsurprisingly, the experience didn't live up to the hype, but I enjoyed my frosty beverage nonetheless.

The weather was perfect (thank God) and all went well. Jacob and I got the tent up and campfire going. Jacob got to be chef and I attempted to improve upon his techniques. Nobody went cold or hungry, but maybe their taste buds didn't appreciate it.

All of our neighbors were very friendly. Apparently this camp is primarily used by RVs, but a number of tents were around. No swimming hole, but we made up for that later.

Just when the children thought the excursion was over, to their surprise, we went to Six Flags!
